The Verdict

Smäk me, this health focused Scandinavian inspired restaurant is seriously cool. Located off Chapel Street, Smäk Food House has a very clean, minimalist vibe (but not minimal enough to make it pretentious), alongside the kind of menu that would turn any nutritionist on. 

Seeing as they decided to name the place after the Norweigian word for taste, you can be sure that they are experts in that field. You know how every cafe has their classic "big brekkie" which is usually painfully drenched in fat and paired with what tastes like Woolworths 85c bread? Well Smäk's version of the "big brekkie" may legitimately help that hangover cure with turkey chipolatas, poached egg, free range bacon, Swiss brown mushroom, truss tomato, kale on rye bread and a sweet potato roesti to top it all off (hashbrowns are so 2011).

We recommend ditching the traditional coffee and opting for their pomegranate & white hibiscus iced tea or perhaps the Smäk basil eye soda instead? Oh, and their baked eggs dish contains French lentils which are grown in southern French volcanic soil... talk about très chic.
