Some of the best times to escape the city are through winter, across our great state there are plenty of getaway activities that showcase Victorian’s top produce and stunning landscapes.
One such soiree is the upcoming Fireside festival taking place in Yarra Valley’s stunning wine region.
This 16-day celebration of wine and good times includes some of the area's finest vineyards including Oakridge, Seville Estate, Six Acres Wines, Yarra Yering, the ever-popular Innocent Bystander and more. Launching on Saturday 17 July at the famous Healesville Hotel the Fireside launch party gives you the opportunity to get close and personal with 10 of the region's best winemakers, pick their brains about all the grapes and tannins and sample some of their hard work.
This best of winter celebration includes a full range of events and experiences across the region, each with a seasonal focus. ‘Handpicked’ is a paired dining experience with Jayden Ong Wines at their cellar door in Healesville, with a set menu all based around fire, including charcoal flame slow-cooked lamb and Hibachi-grilled snacks alongside a selection of cool-climate reds.
Innocent Bystander's ‘Smokin Saturday’ is a multi-sensory evening event with Chieftains Smokehouse taking over the garden area with pulled meats and smoked sensations alongside a fiery performance from Circus Oz. To mix it up head outdoors to the Healesville Sanctuary for a ‘Wine & Wildlife’ pairing, a very organic blend of local wine and native wildlife set amongst a lush bush backdrop. Fireside Yarra Valley is running from Saturday 17 July until Sunday 1 August, head over here for more details.
Escape the chill and head to the best Airbnbs with outdoor tubs and spas.
