For an intimate, luxurious salon experience—helmed by one of Australia's most sought-after editorial hair stylists—Sophie Roberts Hair is the dream.

Hidden within a former barber shop on Orwell Street in Potts Point, award-winning stylist Sophie Roberts' salon is unique—it feels more like a private dressing room than a hair salon. Here, Roberts does by-appointment-only one-on-one 90-minute appointments, with just space for you and Roberts to craft your perfect style. No rows of chairs and thundering hair dryers to compete with.

Roberts' call sheet is impressive, to say the least. She's the go-to stylist for Vogue Australia cover shoots, and regularly works with Harpers Bazaar, Vanity Fair, Interview, WSJ, Numero, Holiday, GQ, RUSSH, and Marie Claire. She's worked with photographers like Lachlan Bailey, Josh Olins, Emma Summerton, Jackie Nickerson, Bibi Cornejo Borthwick; and stylists slash editors like Christine Centenera, Katie Grand, and Anastasia Barbieri.

Roberts' celebrity clients include Nicole Kidman, Troye Sivan, Margot Robbie, Dua Lipa, Nathalie Portman, and famous faces, Gemma Ward, Miranda Kerr, Elle Macpherson, Lizzy, and Georgia May Jagger. In short, she's one of the best in the biz—and scoring a spot in her chair is an absolute treat.

On her new salon experience, Roberts says, " I have always coveted the beautiful Art Deco shop front and building. When the previous owner retired, the opportunity arose to realise a long-held personal dream—to open a space of my own that offered a uniquely personal experience."

Over 12 months, Roberts designed and created her dream salon. "I wanted to create a space that felt luxurious and intimate—when clients walk through the door, they feel transported, like they could be in a salon in Paris, London, or New York, cities I’ve lived in, worked in and love."

Like the neighbouring Abe Saffron-era Roosevelt Hotel and the elegantly curved exterior of the Metro Minerva Theatre, Roberts' salon has a beautiful Art Deco aesthetic.

From the outside, the painted letter signage, frosted glass, and velvet leopard print curtain feel like a stylish vignette from another time. Inside, a black lacquered console and mirror, boudoir lighting, and black and white photography on the walls—hand-picked artists that inspire Roberts—carry the same mood.

Sophie Roberts Hair is open by appointment only and offers styling and blow dry appointments. Head over here to book.
