Set on a working cherry orchard in Orange NSW, Basalt offers up a spectacular way to experience the scenery and specialties of the region.  

High up on the slopes of Mount Canobolas, Basalt features three luxurious and spacious private studios to book. Named Chaser, Drifter, and Yonder, each has absolutely breathtaking views across the Central Tablelands.

Designed by Mudgee-based architect Cameron Anderson with interiors by Lisa Johnson Design Studio, each of the three mini villas includes an enormous stone bathtub, internal wood fire, outside fire pit, king-size bed, and a mini-bar stocked with local goodies. There's even a telescope for stargazing at night.

During your stay, you can order in from Orange's famous Racine bakery or have a fully catered meal for up to six by the fire. You can also book experiences like a yoga session, a tour of the cherry orchard, helicopter transfers, or an Indigenous cultural experience.

Despite its mountainside location, at Basalt you're not far away from the centre of town and some of Orange's best wineries too. Down the road, for example, is Colmar Estate, where you'll find award-winning cool climate single vineyard Riesling and Chardonnay.
