The Verdict

Perched across from the Swan River in East Fremantle, the iconic Tradewinds Hotel is definitely one of our favourite spots for a Freo stay.

You've got awesome bars and eateries like La Lune (hello, martinis), Young George and Ethos on your doorstep, not to mention some super cool clothing boutiques and top notch walking trails to keep you busy.

Stroll a little further across the bridge, and you can enjoy all the beachside goods in North Freo. Or just head straight on down and tick off everything along Freo's central strip—it's all within a scenic 20-minute walk or a super quick 5-minute drive.

Of course, the hotel itself offers an experience that might just keep you there. We're talking comfy refurbed rooms, fluffy bath robes and fully streaming-enabled TVs (something more hotels need to get onto in our opinion), plus, a lush pool area and cracking little pub and restaurant downstairs for pints by the river.

For the most magical sunset and a super special bath moment, do yourself a favour and splash out on a stunning river suite. These rooms come with a separate lounge and kitchen, plus a spacious free-standing bath.

Don't worry though, the gorgeous rooftop deck offers everyone the same eye line out towards Freo's cranes. Just grab a drink and head on up to watch the sky change colours.

This winter Tradewinds is also offering the ultimate winter wellness package that sounds like the ideal way to relax and recharge. The stay includes a nourishing brekky and refreshing juice, an in-room massage, a one-week pilates pass and a wellness gift pack full of feel-good gifts like healthy snacks, Aromatherapy Lab Beauty Essences, glossy magazines and more. Book now.

The Lunch Shack

We’re officially calling it—this new retro-inspired lunch bar in Margaret River is flipping some of the best breakfast burgers in the South West. And with a motto of “Flipping Good Food,” it’s easy to see why locals are already flocking to this spot, led by the friendly trio Liz, Miki and Arlo.
