Lock In Your St Patrick’s Plans Early With Irish Brekkies And Guinness Pints

By

There’s only one day of the year when green wigs are customary, shocking attempts at Irish accents are forgiven and a pint of Guinness for brekkie is not only accepted but encouraged.

St Patrick's Day falls on a Monday this year, meaning you’ve got the perfect excuse to throw in a cheeky annual leave day on 17 March and make a long weekend of it.

And yes, there are always pubs all across Perth putting on parties to celebrate the death of Ireland's patron saint, but there are two standout shindigs that deserve your full attention (and possibly your dignity).

Don your finest green garbs and brush up on your Irish singalongs, here’s the craic on the two St Patrick’s Day parties you won’t want to miss.

Durty Nelly’s

Bag of food

Durty Nelly’s might just be the next best thing after a flight to Dublin this St Patrick’s Day. Designed and constructed in Ireland, shipped over to little ol’ Perth and then reassembled in Shafto Lane in 1998, it’s one of the most authentic Irish pubs on this side of the equator.

The CBD watering hole is turning up the Irish charm on Monday with its biggest Patrick’s Day bash yet. Kicking off at 7am, come with an empty stomach, as the kitchen will be dishing out a full Irish fry-up. We're talking pork sausage, bacon, black pudding, beans, roast tomato, mushrooms, fried eggs, hash browns and soda bread—served with a Guinness, Club Orange or Irish Coffee for $35.

For lunch, it’s carbs-on-carbs with the Durty spice bag (crumbed chicken, chips, fried onion, capsicum, chilli and beloved classic McDonnell's curry sauce), chips with curry sauce and a chicken fillet roll.

For entertainment between bites, the Celtic Academy Irish Dance school will be bringing some high-energy entertainment throughout the day. Plus, if you're lucky, you might even spot a Leprechaun making the rounds.

The Galway Hooker

Prefer your shamrock shenanigans by the sea? Make tracks to Scarborough’s Galway Hooker. Like its city-slicker sibling Durty Nelly’s, the Galway Hooker was built in Ireland, taken apart, shipped to WA piece by piece and reconstructed just for us Scarborough locals on the beach foreshore.

For St Patrick’s Day this year, the beachside boozer is celebrating with a two-day party full of toe-tapping Irish music, captivating Irish dancers and caffeinating Irish coffee.

From 9am on Sunday and Monday, an early-morning fry up with all the trimmings and choice of drink will set you back $30, while stilt walkers, face painters and Irish fairies keep you entertained from morning ‘til night.

With traditional live Irish bands taking to the stage and a few surprises in store, the Galway Hooker’s seaside session is destined to be a craic-ing good time.

No matter where or when you choose to celebrate St Patrick’s Day, you can count on Durty Nelly’s and The Galway Hooker to bring the Irish spirit in spades.

Lock in your table stat to make the most of Patrick’s Day 2025 in Perth.
