Greek restaurants and hipster bars West End has aplenty, but one thing it definitely isn't overflowing with is sleek, sophisticated spots where you can get a good steak. That changed with the arrival of Rich & Rare, a restaurant from the team behind Opa, Massimo, Yamas, and Fosh, where you can choose from a line up of no less than 15 different steaks.
Located in West Village, this relaxed but elegant new eatery and bar features both indoor and outdoor spaces, with glass walk-in dry-ageing room and wine cellar taking pride of place at the front of the venue. Leading the kitchen is Head Chef Felipe De Souza Oliviera, who’s resume includes the likes of Urbane and Greca, not to mention a few Michelin-starred restaurants around the world.
The steaks are of course the star of the show, with cuts that range from a 180g eye fillet to a jaw-dropping tomahawk—perfect for pairing with sides like truffle mac and cheese, bone marrow mash or even Alaskan king crab—but that’s not all that’s on the menu here. You can also feast your way through fresh oysters, cold seafood platters, traditional steak tartare and truffle mushroom spaghetti, with a classic steak burger on offer for those who like a meaty dish they can grab with two hands.
If you’re just after a quick lunch, Rich & Rare has you covered with the likes of wagyu burgers, steak frites and crab spaghetti, though you might want to stick around for a dessert of rum baba cake or tonka bean creme brulee to finish things off. Better yet, if you love a good meal deal, head in for their $50 Power Banquet—a nine-course feast available for lunch and early dinner between 11am-6pm every day for just $50pp.
