Anyone who’s trotted down the Newstead riverwalk knows it’s the place to see and be seen, which is why it’s the perfect spot for Puck—a relaxed bar and cafe for good food, good coffee, and a curated selection of wines, beers and cocktails to sip while the world passes by.

Named after the mischievous fairy in Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream (as well as the spent espresso grounds once a shot of coffee has been pulled), Puck is open all week for breakfast and lunch with a focus on modern Australian flavours and fresh seasonal food. Their wagyu cheeseburger is fast becoming a local favourite, with a range of fresh juices, smoothies and Industry Beans coffee to wash it all down.

Evening merriment is on the cards come Wednesdays to Sundays, when Puck is dishing up a selection of snacks and tapas, alongside a handpicked wine list, cocktail menu, and a selection of bottled and tap beers. From their whole grilled scampi to their peking duck crepes, kick back in the light and breezy space and let your meal pair perfectly with views over the river.

“I’ve lived in Europe and the Middle East amongst other places but am now back in Brisbane,” said owner Henry Coles. “I love living in Newstead and am on the riverwalk at least once a day. I always thought the spot on the river had huge potential, and jumped at it when it became available.”

Puck knows what the locals want, which is why the venue is also dog-friendly and will happily cater to all dietary requirements. Walk-ins are welcome, but you can also book a table here.
