When standard pizzas just won't do, head for Little G, where a rotating menu board of specials features reimagined slices like nothing you've ever tasted before, and even the regular pies are a cut above average. While original owners Danielle and George Diacos have hung up their proverbial apron and chefs hat, the Woolloongabba pizzeria has been left in the very capable hands of new owner (and pizza lover) Monica Emerich. Meanwhile, the restaurant's sous chef of four years, Lucas Yamanaka, has taken over as co-head chef with best friend and up-and-coming superstar, Enzo Gajardo, who are continuing to nail the art of the perfect Roma-style crust.

While the team has kept Little G's signature specials board projected onto a wall of the sleek but casual venue, they've also introduced a permanent physical menu, knowing that a) some of us like to pre-plan our order and b) craning your neck to look at a specials board isn't always fun. On it you'll find a mix of snacks and pizzas, with signature dishes like their spiced corn riblets and fried chicken now a regular fixture, while their 'not arancini' is still up on the specials board in ever-changing variations (it's called 'not arancin' because they're made with pasta, not rice—and are damn delicious).

As for the pizzas, red and white base options include the likes of a hot salami number with honey and stracciatella (our personal fave); crispy potato and kale with goat cheese and chili oil; and meat lovers with BBQ sauce and ranch drizzled on top. Don't settle on your choice without perusing that specials board though, because the slices here can get pretty creative—think everything from bolognese to anchovy caponata pizzas that will leave you drooling.

Be sure to leave a little room for the sweet treat of the week, and savour everything with a tipple or two from the drinks list, which is now far more extensive. As well as a full wine and cocktail list if you've thought ahead and Ubered to dinner, there's also delicious house made sodas and zero-alcohol beers for the non-drinkers.

Also good to know—the artwork you'll see on the wall is all from local artists, so be sure to take a gander. And Little G even send 95% of their waste to a composting facility, so you can feel a little less guilty about those pizza leftovers you're taking home in a box.
