Kangaroo Point—loved by cardio junkies, real estate moguls and rock climbers alike. The whole sunkissed, mega-active waterfront suburb sort of oozes the playful vibe of a golden retriever—and the foodie scene is no different.
From casual yet qualified cafes, to breezy upscale restaurants, these Kangaroo Point restaurants truly offers up some of Brisbane’s best dining spots and some of the best views to match.
Joey’s
Now if we wanna talk about Brisbane institutions, make no mistake, Joey’s is HIGH up on the list. Perched at the very tippy top of the Kangaroo Point cliffs, Joey’s turns the brown snake surprisingly coastal. The view of the city is unparalleled and they’re open for breakfast, lunch or dinner. You can’t go wrong with a share plate for a long and boozy lunch, think light and zesty marinated chicken with skordalia, chilli prawn linguine with garlic and tomatoes or tender wagyu rump with chimichurri. It's also the perfect spot for knock offs and they welcome dogs with open arms. You can book here to secure your table.
Lamberts
Lamberts is somewhat hidden away under hotel The Point Brisbane, but there’s a chance this could be for good reason. This isn't just any restaurant-in-a-hotel—Lamberts boasts a plethora of patron-voted awards. It’s fully air-conditioned cocktail bar and spacious lounge area are
a popular gathering place for those drawn by its quiet sophistication and contemporary wine, beer and cocktail list. For those drawn in by an upscale dining experience though, like us, Lamberts also serves a la carte breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week. The dinner service is our fave, and with dishes like the sirloin, with duck fat potato, charred broccolini, pearl onion and red wine jus, why wouldn't it be?
One Fish Two Fish
One Fish Two Fish is Kangaroo Point’s answer to multi-function dining and seriously upping your omega-3 intake. The Queenslander-esque eatery is the place to be for both a zesty yet down-to-earth mid-week dinner and then your bi-weekly drinks catch up with friends. Seafood is the hero of the whole restaurant with mmenu bangers like cajun fish tacos, refreshing poke salads, seafood risotto and of course a stand-alone stellar classic fish and chips.
Mobo
At Mobo, it’s all about sushi, nigiri, sashimi and sukiyaki. One of the many top-tier reviews literally states ‘the sushi rolls are so aesthetic and beautiful that I feel sad eating them’. With flavours like those in the wagyu rolls though, you certainly won't feel sad for long. You’ll scoff your fill of sushi in the restaurant's airy aesthetic while being tended to by expert and attentive waitstaff. They also have an extensive and masterfully curated sake list.
Joedy’s By Sinclair
The OG Joedy’s Cafe is a pillar of not only the New Farm cafe scene but quite possibly Brisbane as a whole. This particular Joedy’s is different though—they're open for dinner. During the day it’s (booming) business as usual, smash-hit coffees and finger-on-the-pulse breakfast, lunch and everything in between. Upon sunset, an Asian fusion menu takes centre stage with stunners like tempura Moreton Bay bug bites with furikake seasoning or kimchi pork belly with cabbage and kohlrabi. Each and every dish is complimented by a refined selection of boutique, organic Australian wines and classic house cocktails with an Asian twist.
The Prawnster
Ok so if you're not vibing seafood in an elevated-dining-experience-way, and want more of an eat-it-on-the-boat-it-was-caught-on way, boy do we have the spot for you. We are of course talking about The Prawnster, a floating spot moored up on the river. Take a seat on one (there’s two) of the docked, and now decked-out trawlers and feast to your heart's content on some of Brisbane's freshest seafood. Trawler direct seafood comes to your watering mouth in the form of various platters that are so stocked they may as well be buffets. One such platter is the San Michelle platter, in which you get six Coffin Bay oysters, Tasmanian salmon sashimi, tiger prawns, medium mixed prawns plus a whole large lobster. There's also a regularly rotating wine and beer selection, which of course, pairs excellently with seafood. Head over here to book.
Medley
A close neighbour of Joey’s, Medley has nabbed another prime spot along the Kangaroo Point Cliffs for prestige waterfront dining. They’re the proud winners of the AGFG readers choice award in 2022, and for good reason. There’s two whole levels of terraced deck to try and find a table at, not to mention the constant panoramic views of Howard Smith Wharves, the Brisbane River Walk and the New Farm cliffs. Swing by Medley anytime to catch their all-day breakfast which includes dishes like eggs ratatouille, gaprao chicken omelette or semolina halva. Dogs are welcome on the outside deck.
An Cafe
Vietnamese is such an elite cuisine, truly. The banh mi is a mystical dish. How can something as packed with veggies, meat and an addicting sauce somehow also be so light? As mystical as it is, it's one of those things that just plain makes sense. If you find yourself hanging for one and you're in the KP area, it’s An Cafe or nothing. You pull up for a mid-day work lunch, and are instead charmed to death by the uber-friendly staff. They’re open for dinner service too, for some serious competition for your reigning favourite pho.
If you haven’t found something you like, you could also check out the offerings in neighbouring Woolloongabba.
