Tacos Tacos Tacos is a pint-sized laneway eatery in Potts Point’s buzzy Llankelly Place (also home to Piña, Salumerie and Dear Sainte Eloise), by the team behind nearby bistro and wine bar Caravin.

This tiny Mexican restaurant is all about tacos, expertly crafted by chef Joe Valero—who’s from Guadalajara—who's crafted a neat menu utilising less popular cuts of meat for simple but flavour-packed combos.

His favourite (and ours) is the beef suadero: brisket slow-cooked for ages in its own fat for a silky result that gets topped with salsa morita and diced white onion. It’s a juicy—really juicy—taco with so much flavour from just a few elements.

Other menu highlights include the cabeza taco, made from pigs head and complemented by a rich salsa macha. Valero’s unique take on this oil-based sauce incorporates seven types of chili, enhancing the tender pork instead of overshadowing it.

There’s a cactus, frijoles and avocado taco for vegetarians, plus a halloumi-filled quesadilla. Corn tortillas are used for everything bar the quesadilla, so the majority of the menu is gluten-free-friendly, too.

Like the streetside taquerias of Mexico, seating is fold-out chairs spilling across the lane, with DIY salsa station and a couple of tall tables inside for slamming down tacos while standing—the perfect start (or, perhaps, end) to a night.
