One of North Sydney’s best restaurants, RAFI, has opened a second location in Sydney’s West. RAFI URBNSURF is an elevated dining experience with sweeping views over Sydney’s first surf park, and is accessible without entry to URBNSURF.
The open-plan restaurant with a spacious rooftop dining area presents a surf-inspired twist on the popular model of the original RAFI location, with a laid-back but elegant offering that’s well worth a visit without dipping a toe in the water.
The menu centres around responsibly sourced seafood, vegetables, and grass-fed meats, with some highlights—including the South Coast tuna with with tomato, tahini and fragrant chilli oil, and crispy eggplant with honey and herbs, and grilled Abrolhos Island scallops with sweet corn, umami butter and lime. The Olympic Park menu also lists a raw platter for two (Sydney rock oysters, wild-caught yellowfin tuna, Spencer Gulf kingfish, and Trevally).
To drink, familiar global wine producers (including a selection of Champagne houses), sub-zero sips including an oyster martini and burnt butter and pecan Old Fashioned, and sustainably crafted cocktails offer the perfect pairing for a meal, or a sundowner overlooking the barrels.
As with RAFI North Sydney, the venue was fitted out by Luchetti Krelle with a stunning interior scheme inspired by NSW’s Northern Rivers, with natural timbers, rich earth tones, mosaic surfaces, and aged brass accents. A massive wool carpet by First Nations artist Colleen Ngwarraye, featuring medicinal herb motifs, features in the space.
Adjoining Surf Suites are available for private hire and serviced by RAFI, with the same waterside views as the main dining room.
