Inspired by some of the world's most iconic wine bars (like London's Sager + Wilde and Paris' Septime), Lokal is doing natural wines, coal-grilled small plates, and neighbourhood vibes.
The 55-strong wine list (including 11 drops available by the glass) reflects co-owner Patrick Frawley's passion for supporting low-intervention producers, with a focus on natural and orange wines complemented by a selection of vermouth, and a trio of seasonal cocktails focusing on native ingredients like bottle brush and dessert lime.
In the kitchen, co-owner Nelson Cramp is cooking over coals, serving larger plates like grilled blue mackerel with crémé fraîche, sun-dried tomatoes, fresh herbs and kalamata olives alongside bar snacks, cheese and charcuterie, including smoked trout from neighbour Smoked by Kai.
Other community touches include Tonton bread, The Cricketers Arms' Golden Bone on tap, and pieces from Clay Cartel.
