Editor's note: While you can still glamp on Stradbroke Island, the bell tents specified in this article are unfortunately no longer available.
North Stradbroke Island is pretty much the closest thing Brisbane has to a tropical island escape—if you've never been can you even call yourself a local? Located just three hours from the CBD, you’re not living the Queenslander life right unless you’ve wiggled your toes in Straddie’s golden sands or swam in the warm turquiose waters at least once.
And, while some love a cheeky camping overnighter, some of us are less enthusiastic about a 'no frills' island escape. Straddie understands your need for mod-cons and a touch of luxe(even when you're trying out island life for size), so you can now glamp on North Stradbroke Island!
Combining all the benefits of camping (immersion in nature, disconnection from the daily grind, s'mores etc) with all the luxuries of hotel accommodation (read: comfy bed and proper seating), glamping is the perfect blend of nature and nurture. So when Adder Rock Camping Ground set up a glamping quarter with teepee-esque tents and potted plants, we just had to share.
There are 10 glamping tents in total all nestled amongst a gorgeous tea tree grove, consisting of fully made-up beds (either twin or double), a bamboo table and deck chairs—even Wi-Fi!—and all the perks of luxury—without the price tag. Oh and don’t forget you can always step outside your front door to enjoy the calming splash of the ocean during the day and all the stars you forgot existed at night-time. Sound like the best night's sleep ever, right? We think so.
Locationwise, Adder Rock couldn't be better situated with direct access to both the Lifesaver-patrolled Home Beach and the Adder Rock surf beaches, meaning you can enjoy the sun and surf no matter what style you prefer it in.
