Head To the Home Of The Arts To Witness 100 Years Of Australia’s Best Portraits

By

In honour of Australia’s beloved Archibald Prize crossing the century mark, the Art Gallery of New South Wales is digging up 100 years’ worth of award-winning portraits to take you on a dazzling trip down memory lane—and you can catch them on display in Queensland this July.

Archie 100: A Century Of The Archibald Prize is the result of research spanning countless hours unearthing hidden gems, some of which haven’t been seen since the very first Archibald exhibition back in 1921. Celebrate a laundry list of Australian and New Zealander artists’ unbridled talent as Archie 100 deep dives into their triumphant work, leaving no stone unturned as it explores the utmost peaks of this prestigious portraiture prize.

Between 15 July—October 2, fall down a rabbit hole in this immersive experience, showcasing collections sourced from libraries, museums, and galleries countrywide.

Knowing how passionately artists vie for the Archibald Prize, Archie 100 promises to treat your eyes to artwork that us mere non-artsy mortals wouldn’t dare attempt to paint with a brush.

Make the most of this chance to glimpse into the lives of talented artists like Natasha Bieniek, William Dargie and Tempe Manning—if you don’t know those names now, they’ll be burned into your brain after you’ve finished moseying through the exhibit.

Archie 100 needs to be seen to be believed, so round up your cultured mates and book a date before the window of opportunity vanishes.
