Singapore is one seriously indulgent place. The buzzing cosmopolitan city is a melting pot of culture, excellent food and even better bars. Whether you’re a frequent Singapore visitor or are tackling this epic spot for the first time, we’ve curated the perfect booze guide just for you.
Here are seven of the best spots to check out in Singapore after dark.
Manhattan
Voted the third best bar in the whole world, you’ll want to go ahead and put Manhattan straight to the top of your must-do list. Located at the Regent Singapore the venue is inspired by the golden age, oozing glamour with moody lightly, leather banquettes and private rooms for special occasions. It even has the world’s first in-hotel rickhouse. Run by Aussie David Nguyen-Luu, the tipple list is extensive but if we had to pick a favourite it would be the Millionaire (Appleton Estate 12 Years, Luxardo apricot brandy, cedilla acai, lime and grenadine). A known celeb hotspot, you’ll want to go ahead and book yourself in at their Adults Only Brunch. For $158, (you’re worth it) you can gorge on freshly shucked oysters, wagyu beef and Maine lobster. There’s also a crepe station, cheese boards galore and the best damn looking dessert spread we’ve ever laid our eyes on. Wash it all down with their bottomless, award winning cocktails, plus a selection of beers and wine.
The Other Roof
If you like your cocktail with a side of epic views, be sure to make your way to The Other Roof on the Ann Siang Road. Take the elevator to the top floor of the Ann Siang House Hotel and sink into one of the outdoor booths. Here, they specialise in tea-finished spirits and cocktails, all derived from bespoke tea spirits. They stock over 400 different types which line the walls of the bar, while the super friendly staff, clad in Hawaiian print shirts, are only too happy to help with suggestions. Their large but user-friendly menu offers a bunch of tasty tipples, each with tasting notes and a punch factor. Our favourites include the Monkey See, Monkey Do (lemon, soda, pink fluid tea monkey 47 and grapefruit) and the Whole Lotta Love (yuzu and pear blossom, lavender, golden gai tea, lillet blanc and vodka). If you’re looking for excellent drinks and a party vibe, this place is the perfect spot to start your night.
Marquee
While we wouldn’t usually expect a vibing nightclub to be located within a shopping centre, when said centre is Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands we’ll absolutely make an exception. This epic super club is the new sister venue of Marquee Sydney and it’s been given a serious upgrade. Boasting a huge dance floor, private tables and a slew of bars, the centrepiece has to be the indoor Ferris wheel—yes you read that right. And even better, you can take your crew and cocktails on the ride, plus there’s a photo booth in each of the carriages so you can document your good time. After something a little more thrilling? Jump on the slide and scale two floors of the epic building. Packed with celebs, Marquee also boasts a roster of A-list performances including the likes of Lost Kings, A$AP Ferg and Nicky Romero to name a few. Grab your crew and get sweaty on the dance floor because this is absolutely one of the best things to do in Singapore after dark.
Operation Dagger
Singapore is positively bursting with contenders for the world’s best bar and Operation Dagger is one of them. Sitting pretty at number 23 on the list, this sweet spot is located just outside Chinatown in the buzzing Ann Siang Hill. Escape the chaos of the street and you’ll be rewarded with a sleek bar, concrete walls, a chic light installation, and shelves lined with apothecary-style bottles filled with exotic elixirs. Here the cocktails are anything but ordinary, expect surprising concoctions like the Caramello Koala, (yes inspired by that chocolate bar) made with cacao and eucalyptus and the Oyster Ice Cream (Fino sherry, house distilled matcha, Fino sherry, oyster leaf, citrus cream and matcha sherbet).
Druggists
Beer lovers rejoice, Singapore is bursting with epic craft beer joints and you can’t go past our personal fave Druggists. About a five minute stroll from Lavender MRT station, this beer heaven is the perfect chilled out spot to sip that liquid gold. Housed in the Singapore Chinese Druggists Association, the industrial space features 23 taps lining the wall. The ever-changing tipples are listed on the chalkboard above. Here you can sip on everything from lagers and ales to sours, IPAs and stouts. Grab a goblet and join one of the long communal tables to while away the hours. Indoors is airconditioned which, let’s be honest, is a necessity in Singapore, but if you can handle a little sweat, snag a table out the front and people watch until your heart’s content. If you’re peckish they also offer a small snack menu filled with perfectly beer-matched treats like pork ribs and burgers.
ATLAS
Step one foot inside ATLAS’s gothic building and you’ll realise pretty quickly why it’s ranked the 8th best bar in the world. Located in the historic Bugis neighbourhood at Parkview Square, the art deco lobby bar is the epitome of grandeur. Think forest green velvet club chairs, low lighting, plush booths, ornate ceilings and a jaw-dropping floor to ceiling wall of booze complete with a ladder. The crew here are total cocktail connoisseurs with their book-like menu featuring a myriad of elegant cocktails (try their classic ATLAS Martini) and one of Asia’s largest collections of gin, spirits and champagnes sourced from around the world. As expected this beauty books out fast, so get in early to avoid disappointment. As with some bars in Singapore, ATLAS has a smart casual dress code which means no shorts for the fellas. If you’re looking for one of the best bars in Singapore, you’ve found it.
Brass Lion Distillery
If you’re after an excellent cocktail minus the noise and crowds, we have the perfect place for you. Singapore’s first ever boutique gin distillery has a tasting room/public bar and they’re slinging some A-grade tipples. Founded back in 2012, head to the upper floor of the distillery, pull up a stool at the marble bar and let the magicians whip you up a concoction. Here you can order everything from a curry G&T (yes you read that right) to a string of classic and new age cocktails all championing local botanicals. Our faves include the Bandung Fizz (Brass Lion dry gin, bandung syrup, lemon and lime juice, cream and egg white) and the Butterfly G&T which changes colour from a deep blue to a bright purple when you add tonic—it’s the stuff of Instagram dreams. There’s also beer, tea and mocktails on offer. Hungry? Soak up the gin with pulled pork tacos and a cheeseboard.
