The Verdict
Rustica is not a new name in the Melbourne café scene, having established itself as a destination in Fitzroy back in 2012.
With five locations already around Melbourne, Rustica has just added a sixth to the mix, a location that will take the ‘flagship’ title off Fitzroy, and hang it above the wall at their new spot at 501 Chapel Street.
Taking over a former fashion store, the newest addition to the Rustica stable will look a little different, serving up options from breakfast right through until dinner—keeping the hungry Chapel Street partiers going strong.
The space was designed by Fiona Drago who has filled the 500-square metre location with earthy tones, marble tabletops, and timber.
Rustica Chapel Street is big enough to hold 100 diners, who will be tucking into items like the classic Rustica lobster benedict, the usual baked goods, and dinner options like the pan-fried gnocchi with lemon ricotta and pea purée with fresh mint.
There is an extensive pizza menu as well, which is definitely something new for the group, and you’ll find alcohol options including a range of local wines and beers.
