The Verdict
Heartbreaker is one of our favourite late-night CBD dive bars. Serving bottle-aged classics in a no-frills, all-American style venue, the dingy rock and roll bar comes complete with a jukebox, a pool table (shotgun first game) and a kitsch retro kitchen.
And the good news just keeps on rolling, because owner Michael Madrusan has just opened Connie's Pizza INSIDE Heartbreaker. It's a traditional New York-inspired slice straight out of Sex And The City. Think minimal toppings and lots of cheese—the kind of pizza you can hold with one hand while sipping a Negroni in the other. You can't go wrong with a gooey Margherita, but we recommend the 'Grandma Slice': a square-cut, deep-pan pie where the cheese goes on BEFORE the tomato sauce. Shake on chilli, oregano or parmesan to taste, fold in half and go to town. It's a little slice of the Big Apple, right here in the CBD.
