Nostalgic charm meets modern luxe at the Gold Coast’s newest boutique accommodation, The Cheshire Cat Motel. The freshly renovated motel nestled in Palm Beach has a new lease on life, while paying homage to its roots as one of the Gold Coast’s original motels built in the 1960’s.

The Palm Springs-inspired beachfront property is an ode to the bygone era of quintessential motel culture, but it’s certainly not like any motel you’ve been to before. Boasting seven rooms—each uniquely designed—and one two-bedroom bungalow, a plunge pool, a pool deck lined with lush greenery and cacti, a communal co-working terrace space, and a soon-to-open beauty and wellness studio, the Cheshire Cat Motel has ‘lush beachside holiday’ written all over it.

Hues of burnt orange, pale eucalypt green and creamy whites throughout the motel are reminiscent of warm summer days, but we doubt you’ll be spending much time admiring the paintwork with the beach just 200 metres from your doorstep. The dreamy space is also available for exclusive commercial photoshoots and events.

The husband-and-wife owners of the new-look Cheshire Cat Motel are Palm Beach born and raised, so paying tribute to the motel’s heritage was important to them.

“It was so important not to knock the building down to make way for another apartment tower,” says owner Matty Roberts.

“We wanted to keep the spirit of the Cheshire Cat alive in Palm Beach —it’s a building that has been around for such a long time here, with so many classic stories to tell of its bygone past...so now we’re focused on adding to that tapestry with a new chapter in the life of ‘The Cat’.”
