As if Tarte Bakery wasn’t already a household name on the Gold Coast, they’ve dropped a sweet, sweet bombshell on us with the opening of Tarte Market.
Tarte Market is, to put it simply, everything people love about Tarte all wrapped up in one beautiful market venue, perched creekside adjoining the Tarte Beach House site on Currumbin Creek. Think: retail space meets plant shop meets gelato bar meets delicatessen. It’s a diverse destination and boy, do we love it.
Wander through the greenery-lined entrance and you’re immediately greeted by a huge tree stump centrepiece table—crafted by owner Chloe Watts’ father—before your eyes are drawn to the homewares-lined walls. A carefully curated selection of Tarte-style homewares (yes, including the signature duck egg cups), candles, soaps, ceramics, woven baskets and even plants are all available to purchase.
If you want to recreate Tarte’s iconically elegant, Parisian style in your house, Tarte Market has your name all over it. We also love that the items are affordably priced, so it’s a prime spot to snag that last-minute birthday gift.
Tarte’s famous goodies, all made in-house from premium, locally-sourced ingredients, are also available for purchase. We’re talking everything from the fan-favourite crispy chilli oil and hot honey to miso mayo and Tarte’s famous pickles.
You can also enjoy a taste of Tarte at home with their new take-home meal selection. A decadent Wagyu lasagne, creamy cauliflower rigatoni bake, Potato Dauphinoise and the cult-favourite Wagyu bolognese pie with buffalo mozzarella are just some of the homemade heat-and-eat Tarte meals we’re frothing over. They’re all made from scratch in-house and you’re sure to taste the difference with only high-end, chiefly locally-sourced ingredients used.
The gelato bar is unlike any gelato bar we’ve seen before—artisanal, Italian-style gelato made on a Queensland dairy farm is elevated with indulgent, housemade toppings such as pistachio praline, torched Italian meringue, dulce caramel and toffee macadamia. And the gelato flavours, you ask? Lemon sorbet, pistachio, Italian marshmallow and custom dulce de leche and strawberry and crème fraîche flavours are just some of our favourites.
And if that wasn’t enough already, you can dig into fresh strawberry and seasonal fruit cups topped with Belgian melted chocolate, whipped cream or vanilla gelato. It’s like summer in a cup.
Tarte Market will also soon be offering a gourmet picnic service—snag a Tarte-provided picnic basket, fill it up with artisanal deli items like Byron Bay mozzarella, arancini, croquettes, and free-range terrine, grab some Tarte lounge chairs and you can set up a creekside picnic with all items courtesy of Tarte Market.
Tarte Market is continuing the Currumbin Creek tradition and will soon be launching stand-up paddle boards and glass bottom-style kayaks, continuing the legacy of the much-loved former paddle board shop.
