A feeling of devastation settled over the Gold Coast when Francie’s Pizzeria closed their doors for renovations in early 2022, with the only solace being that they would be back, with a promise of new and improved. 

Fast forward to now and, not only have the team delivered on their promise, but they’ve gone one step further with the opening of their second venue (In addition to their OG Coolangatta store)—a rustic yet chic speakeasy-style spot in southern Mermaid Beach. Meet Franc Jrs.

Franc Jrs in Nobby Beach has maintained its predecessor’s cult-following with the big hitters from their previous menu (Sage Against the Machine—if you know, you know), and then taken it up a notch with a lineup of fresh, American-inspired newcomers.

Think Detroit-style square pizzas like the White Stripe (a fusion of cheeses drizzled with hot honey… need we say more?) and deep-pan pizza pies like the stracciatella-covered Burrata Pie. Just thinking about it has us salivating…

The sides menu has been reduced, but thankfully you can still get their famous pork meatballs. And for those who are part of the Gold Coast’s ever-growing vegan community, there’s an impressively large offering of options just for you, like the crowd-favourite vegan nduja and cashew ricotta-covered Little Sticky.

Similar to their sibling Cooly store, there is often a wait if you’re looking to dine in, so we recommend grabbing a glass of chilled red to tie you over. Much like their food menu, the drinks menu pulls out all the stops—we can’t go past the Aperol spritz for a Friday night treat.

With an extensive range of mouthwatering food and beverages, an aesthetic, dimly-lit venue, and a stellar vinyl collection to boot, it’s safe to say that the talented team behind Franc Jrs has well and truly delivered on their promise—and we can’t get enough.
