James & Antler

The team behind Mitchelton’s hottest cafe Mitch & Antler have taken one of their best-selling menu items, the croque madame—a magnificent sourdough toastie packed with smoked ham, manchego and egmont cheese and mustard and leek cream, topped with a fried free-range egg—and placed it front and centre in their newest addition to the James Street precinct, James & Antler. Don’t let size fool you, this container cafe may be tiny but it is serving up massive flavour. 

Owners, Tze-Huei ‘TH’ Choo and Chewie Choo intend to switch up the croque offerings every month or so, working with local chefs to develop new flavours. Of course, the croque monsieurs and madames, will always be a permanent fixture, but the rest of the menu will be an ever rotating array of savoury and sweet options (with gluten free bread soon to be added to their offering too). Beyond the croques, mouthwatering baguettes, salads and soft serves are also on the menu. Pair your sandwich with one of their signature coffee or matcha frappes, which are blended with soft serve and canned on the spot, so you can enjoy it on the go if you haven’t got time to stay and soak up the sun in their outdoor seating area.
