The first restaurant to open on The Star Brisbane’s much anticipated The Terrace, Black Hide Steak & Seafood By Gambaro has used the opportunity of moving over from their former home inside Treasury Brisbane to reinvent their entire experience, with a stunning new look and menu. Located on the river side of the precinct, the fresh new Unita-created venue boasts some pretty spectacular views of the Neville Bonner Bridge, but it’s not just the views that will capture your attention here.

First up, the space itself will elicit a few ‘oohs’ from the moment you walk in. Taking its cues from the olive trees rising from amongst the tables (no really, one is literally in a table), the colour scheme is very much a green and natural pine affair, resulting in a Mediterranean feel. As well as ample indoor tables, the dining area extends out onto the terrace, and there’s also a separate cocktail bar where you can grab a pre or post-dinner sip.

As you might have guessed from the name, steak is no longer the sole focus—though it certainly still plays a starring role. In the position of co-star however, is a lengthy list of Queensland seafood, from king fish crudo, and prawn cocktails to cheesy lobster mornay and grilled Moreton Bay bugs. Of course, carnivores will still find plenty on the menu to tempt, with Black Hide’s signature meatballs staying firmly put alongside steak tartare, BBQ beef short ribs and a generous selection of Stanbroke Beef Angus and Wagyu steaks to pair with sides.
