4 Pastas, 4 Corners

Four pastas, four corners of Brisbane… Need I say more?

Not that you should need an excuse, but the cooler months make it the perfect time to rug up and dig in to a hearty bowl carbs. And so, to satisfy Brisbanites of the north, south, east and west, we have listed our favourite Italian pastas from all corners of the city.

With so many fabulous haunts to indulge, from the fine dining beauties to the friendly neighbourhood locals, it was a challenge (to say the least) narrowing it down to four measly dishes. There is definitely room for four Pastas, four Corners round two, so keep an eye on this space!

Bon Appétit!

Brisbane's Best Pasta title=Brisbane's Best Pasta

North:

Pappardelle with shredded duck confit, porcini mushrooms and truffle tapenade | Mario at The Dining Room
The ultimate decadence, indulge in the shredded duck confit with freshly made pasta. Using porcini mushrooms and truffle tapenade, it has a deep earthy undertone. Glossy and rich, it’s indescribably amazing.

South:

Buccatini all’amatriciana | 1889 Enoteca
Sometimes simple is best, and it sure is at 1889 Enoteca. Think guanciale (unsmoked Italian bacon), chili, fresh tomato sauce and Pecorino Romano. It will slip down your throat all too easily. I also have to make mention of the gnocchi with pork and fennel sausage and black truffle tapenade. A menu staple at 1889 Enoteca, it‘s hard to pass up. East:

Venetian style crespelle filled with ricotta, pumpkin and burnt sage butter | Bar Alto
The crespelle is one of Bar Alto’s most popular dishes, and a favourite amongst whoever has been so blessed to try it. With the burnt sage butter infiltrating the dish, it brings out the creaminess of the pumpkin. A true flavour sensation.

West:

Grappino’s marinara | Grappino
Prepared with the freshest morsels the sea provides, the marinara is served with Napoli and cream of lobster sauce. Trust me when I say it will take every inch of strength and willpower not to mop up every last bit. Sprinkled with fresh herbs, this is a positively glorious marinara.
